Chamath Palihapitiya On Growth Hacking And How To Create A Sustainable User Acquisition Engine

I was recommended an article to read that I wanted to share here.  It was an interview with Chamath Palihapitiya On Growth Hacking And How To Create A Sustainable User Acquisition Engine.

The article is fascinating and there is a really good video to watch at the end.  For those who do now know who Chamath Palihapitiya is, he is a verteran of the Entrepreneurial circuit and is involved with several venture capital funds.  He has helped lead Winamp, AOL and even served as a VP for Facebook.  To boot – he even owns the Golden State Warriors.

During the interview he “talks about how his experience at Winamp and AOL informed his leadership at Facebook, the power of communication networks and how they can create usage and scale and help accelerate adoption. He talks candidly about the philosophy in the Valley, the lack of “dog fooding” that happens among startups today and about what’s really important: A granular understanding of product value and consumer behavior.”

While working for Zynga this question comes across our mind often.  How well do we know our users?  What value do they add?  How can we make their experience better to improve that value?  Improving your users experience will improve the value they add back.  That in turn enhances the ecosystem and makes the experience better for everyone.
